In 1995, an immigrant couple from Minas Gerais, Brazil, began working in the kitchen of the Iberia restaurant, one of the best-known spaces of Iberian cuisine in New Jersey. A decade later, Wendel Corrêa and Cristine Silvino had the opportunity to open their own restaurant, Delícias de Minas, which brought to McWhorter Street the delicacies served on the interior farms in the interior of Minas Gerais.

The traditional cuisine of excellence, combined with a tasteful musical program, has transformed the couple’s restaurant into a Brazilian gastronomic reference in the Jardim State.

In 2021, with the pandemic closing several establishments throughout the country, the couple was offered the opportunity to acquire the Iberian Peninsula, a giant with a capacity of 900 seats, located across the street, and considered one of the best restaurants in the city.

This is how Wendel and Cristine return to the space where they washed dishes and peeled shrimps in the early days in the new country, closing one of the beautiful stories of the American Dream with a golden key.

Delicias de Minas Steak House is a hundred meters from Penn Station, in a privileged location, and has just received a robust renovation, which gave the house a New York air.

The house has a vibrant bar with a capacity for almost 200 people, a stage for entertainment, and a selection of beers and wines never seen in Newark. Henrique Passos prepared the cocktail menu, is considered one of the greatest mixologists in Brazil, and who came to Newark especially to sign the menu of specialty drinks.

The kitchen is run by Chef João Ricardo Souza, who made his name in the best restaurants in Brazil. For Delícias de Minas BBK, he created a menu in the “Fusion” style, bringing together flavors from all over the world, but always giving his dishes a delicious Brazilian accent.
